What style or feel of music did you use for the credit sequence and why?
The style of music I used for the
opening credit sequence was loud and was ‘two drums’ which played over
repeatedly. The drums were deep and created a rhythm. The reason why I used the
drums as it created the specific atmosphere which I wanted to create. It gave a
stern but mysterious impression, which I wanted to be clearly shown at this
part of the video. The drums being run
throughout the entire opening sequence also gives of the impression that the
mood of the opening scene has been set and you can tell what type of opening
this film will have
How effective do you think your
sequence is for the credit sequence & titles?
I would say the effectiveness is
7 out of 10 as it is successful in creating the rhythm and creating a
underlying mood of how the opening film will start.
2.
What style of music did you use for the
playground sequence and why?
At the playground scene I used
different types of music; at the start when you see the shots of the roundabout
and other features there is a sound bridge and we carry on using the happy
environmental music as we used in the scene before. We do this because we
believe it is parallel to the scene and it shows the audience that in this
moment in time the mood is calm, relaxed and nice. As the mood slowly shifts we show this with
the quieting of the music to show the happy mood is lowering, just like the
volume, we then add in other mysterious music to show the mood has completely
changed, then we add in environmental sounds to complement the scene as the
mood has completely shifted, and the music we use emphasizes this alongside the
visual effects.
The effectiveness of for our
music I would say is about a 6 or 7 as it could have flowed better but was
still detrimental in setting the mood for particularly important moments.

What
style of music did you use for the sequence when the dementors appeared and
why? How do you feel the music and feel changed? To what extent did you manage
to convey the change in mood?
When the dementors appear we add more music in which has a
more sinister feel to it, once again changing the mood of the previous scene,
it’s also dark, like the dementors that connotes the evil which is currently
taking place. Our music still sounded fairly similar apart from the underlying
mysterious tone but I feel the mood still changed to a slightly more sinister
mood. I think we conveyed the
significant change in mood to a poor extent, the music was not to distinct from
the music we had used before we did not signify a change in mood.
I think the effectiveness of our dementors scene is around a
5 or 6 due to the fact when the mood changes, the music doesn't change a lot to emphasize it.
4.
As
a whole I’m pleased with the sequence especially between 0:01 and 2.53; at this
point I believe the effectiveness of our sequence dropped and didn't maintain
the standards of the previous scenes, but I am still pleased with the sequence
overall.
Overall I would say that our soundtrack is pretty effective ,
even though it loses its effectiveness halfway through the clip, overall I would say our effectiveness for
this clip is a 5 out of 10.

DeleteThis is excellent analysis Ryan - you have been clear over detail and have thought about how effective things are - that's a higher grade skill (level 4 (and 3+).
ReplyDeleteYou are using the technical language and concepts you have learnt - accurately. Very Good. If you keep up the work rate and don't get behind with notes and understanding, you could get your CTG+2 (but it will be hard work - your film will have to be good too). You can write more but you are doing well are on target to do very well. Keep it up.
